The Executive Director for Creations Forum Afrika, Johncation Muhindo making a point at the inception meeting for Ugandans for Peace project at New Fort View in Fort-Portal Tourism City.

Creations Forum Afrika and Kabarole Research Center received funding from United States Agency for International Development [USAID] through Women International Peace Center [WIPC] to implement the Ugandans for Peace Project which aims at building a Civically Competent and Resilient Citizenry for a Peaceful Electoral Process in the Rwenzori region.

Creation Forum Afrika (CAF) is not-for-profit organization promoting proactive citizenship, peace building and conflict resolution, good governance, natural resource justice and social-economic justice rights for marginalized communities in southwestern Uganda’s conflict-prone borderland Rwenzori sub-region.

For Creations Forum Afrika-CAF, the project will be implemented in Kasese, Bunyangabu, Ntoroko and Bundibugyo districts and for Kabaraole Research Center-KRC, the districts operation include Fort-Portal City, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge, Kitagwenda, Kyegegwa and Kabarole.

While speaking to the invited guests, Mr. Muhindo told the attendees that Kasese district has witnessed election violence for many years and quickly stated that it is time the monster should be eliminated through combined efforts from all key actors in the electioneering process of Uganda.

Mr. Muhindo is optimistic that Ugandans for Peace Project will add a strong layer to curtail election violence through sensitizing the communities, youth, women, People with Disabilities, local leaders, cultural, religious, media, technical leaders, security and political aspirants.

David Mugarra, the Head of Governance and Policy Advocacy at Kabarole Research Center told the guests that the project will bring together regional leaders to discuss the Rwenzori development Agenda on free and fair elections, violence and peaceful process.

Hon. Alex Ruhunda, the Member of Parliament for Fort Portal Tourism City told the participants leaders should advise the young people to critically use different lenses to know who would wish to use them for their selfish political interests.

The meeting was attended by Fort Portal City Women Member of Parliament, Hon. Irene Alinda, the District Returning Officer for Kasese, Ismail Atujwikire, Toro Kingdom cultural leaders, security headed by the Resident City Commissioner and elected leaders.
